High-resolution Imaging of pH in Alkaline Sediments and Water Based on a New Rapid Response Fluorescent Planar Optode

A new dual-lumophore optical sensor combined with a robust RGB referencing method was developed for two-dimensional (2D) pH imaging in alkaline sediments and water. The pH sensor film consisted of a proton-permeable polymer (PVC) in which two dyes with different pH sensitivities and emission colors: (1) chloro phenyl imino propenyl aniline (CPIPA) and (2) the coumarin dye Macrolex(®) fluorescen...

Design and Fabrication of a Ratiometric Planar Optode for Simultaneous Imaging of pH and Oxygen

This paper presents a simple, high resolution imaging approach utilizing ratiometric planar optode for simultaneous measurement of dissolved oxygen (DO) and pH. The planar optode comprises a plastic optical film coated with oxygen indicator Platinum(II) octaethylporphyrin (PtOEP) and reference quantum dots (QDs) embedded in polystyrene (PS), pH indicator 5-Hexadecanoylamino-fluorescein (5-Fluor...

The time domain in co-stained cell imaging: time-resolved emission imaging microscopy using a protonatable luminescent iridium complex.

The intense luminescence of the new complex Ir(ppy)(2)(pybz) (1) within the cytoplasm of live cells can be discriminated from the fluorescence of an organic stain, solely on the basis of the emission timescale {pybzH = 2-pyridyl-benzimidazole}. The protonated form of 1 displays red-shifted emission, and may be implicated in a superior uptake compared to Ir(ppy)(3).

Significance of background optical properties, time-resolved information and optode arrangement in diffuse optical imaging of term neonates.

The significance of accurate knowledge of background optical properties and time-resolved information in reconstructing images of hemodynamic changes in the neonatal brain from diffuse optical imaging data was studied using Monte Carlo (MC) simulation. A segmented anatomical magnetic resonance (MR) image and literature-derived optical properties for each tissue type were used to create a voxel-...

Computational time-resolved imaging

Classical photography uses steady-state illumination and light sensing with focusing optics to capture scene reflectivity as images; temporal variations of the light field are not exploited. This thesis explores the use of time-varying optical illumination and time-resolved sensing along with signal modeling and computational reconstruction. Its purpose is to create new imaging modalities, and ...
